Organizations

In Grange Church we have the following Organizations

BADMINTON

There are two Badminton Clubs.

  • For the better players the Grange Badminton Club meets all year in the Church Hall on a Monday and a Saturday evening under the leadership of David Barr.  For more details please contact David Barr,
    Tel: 01563 535036

  • In the summer months there is a Badminton Club on a Thursday evening when players of all ages and both sexes come along for an evening's exercise at 7.30 pm.  This begins after Easter and runs until the Choir resumes in September.

BOWLING CLUB

The Bowling Club is on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm.   New members will be made more than welcome and  anyone interested in joining should either attend on Wednesdays or speak to Billy Allan to find out more information on the Club.

CARING GROUP

Twenty one years ago, Bill Wales, an elder of Grange Church, saw a need for something extra in the life of the Congregation. He discussed his ideas with Robert and Annie Owen and the result was the formation of the Caring Group. The aim was to keep involved in the fellowship parishioners who were no longer fit to attend the Church.
Members of the Caring Group visit the housebound, give them news and gossip and usually end up as good friends.  Afternoon Services are held when the housebound are brought by minibus and car to the Church Hall for an informal service followed by time for a cup of tea and a chat.
In the Summer there is an outing followed by a lovely tea back in the Church Hall.  Everyone is fairly well behaved, and the day is rounded off with the singing of favourite hymns.

In December there is a Christmas Dinner with entertainment from the Choir.  The work of the Caring Group is financed by a Coffee Morning held in the Spring and the Church pays the balance.

GRANGE CHURCH CHOIR

At Christmas we have one Sunday led by the Choir, during which 5 or 6 pieces are sung either as a choir or occasionally by soloists from the choir. We also provide the entertainment for the Caring Group Christmas dinner when we indulge in more secular music, songs from shows, old Scots songs, Christmas songs etc. Again these are a mixture of solo and choral works.

For Easter we prepare special music for Passion, Palm and Easter Sundays, after which we normally stop practices for the summer.

We are a small friendly and hard working group, always willing to tackle anything new and to welcome any new member, of any age, male or female who feels they can benefit the work of the choir.

THE GUILD

The Guild meets throughout the autumn and winter every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Church Hall. Members come from many churches in the town to this large and friendly branch. Speakers are varied and interesting and various outings and demonstrations also feature in the syllabus.

MOTHERS' AND TODDLERS' GROUP

This group meets in the Church Hall on a Wednesday morning from 10 am - 11.30 am during school term time. All young babies and toddlers and their carers are made very welcome.

For information contact Esther on 07707021548.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT CLUB

This activity is especially enjoyed by the older members of the community who come along and are led in exercises and dance patterns to keep them fit and healthy. It is held on a Tuesday afternoon from 2 pm until 3.45 pm in the Church Hall and is led by Anne McVey and Mildred Mullen.

THE GRANGERS

The Grangers meet in the Church Halls at the same time as Morning Worship. Babies and pre-school children are catered for in the New Hall and the older children  meet in the Church Hall. Children of all ages are always welcome to attend. From Sunday 26th February, on the last Sunday of the month, The Grangers will join the congregation towards the end of the Service for joint worship.

In the summer holidays the Summer Grangers operate.

THURSDAY CLUB

The Thursday Club is run for the older members of the community.
It meets every second Thursday afternoon in Grange Church Hall at 2 p.m.

The varied syllabus includes

  • Musical afternoons

  • Talks

  • Slides

  • Bowling

  • Bring and Buy

  • Beetle Drives

A cup of tea and a chat close the meetings.
Both men and women are welcome.
